arrival!

i am here!! alas without my baggage and with a longggg story to tell but its all good. i'll write a longer post later, hopefully i can either find an internet cafe thats cheap or we can find a way to get internet in our apartment. my apartment wasn't ready yet, but we're about to go see it now, so we'll see!

i love the city so far, it's amazingly beautiful. pictures don't do it justice. i took a few today when we went to the wednesday market, but i'll have to post them later. i'm trying to use my italian and it's worked a bit!

longer update later, just wanted to say that i have officially arrived in italia.

Some exciting news

So this DEFINITELY makes me a "stupid American" but I am so thrilled about my new knowledge of Siena: WE HAVE A MCDONALDS! I love Italian food a lot, don't get me wrong, but the prospect of only having Italian food for 4 months was a little daunting. Now if I miss my nasty fried chicken sandwich and Americanized french fries I will have a place to go! The funny thing is I hate McDonalds here, but I think it will have to suffice for my occasional fastfood craving in Italy. It'll make me feel a little more at home...haha...

my first post!

So I started this journal to write about my travels to Europe during my semester abroad. I'm going to be living in Siena, Italy which is just outside of Florence in Tuscany. I'm so excited about going there and about travelling everywhere! I don't leave for another 22 days (but who's counting?) so I won't update too much until then. Welcome to my new "blog" :)
